What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow your device to be recognised on a return visit and enable certain functions.

Which cookies we use

ZVG Melder uses strictly necessary cookies only — those required to operate the platform and keep you signed in:

  • Session cookie (authentication): keeps you logged in after sign-in.
  • Language preference (locale): stores your selected language (German or English).

Under § 25 (2) TDDDG these cookies do not require consent, as they are strictly necessary to provide the service you have expressly requested.

Tracking and marketing cookies

ZVG Melder uses no tracking, advertising or marketing cookies. For reach measurement we use the self-hosted analytics tool Umami, which works without cookies and without building personal profiles. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Embedded map services

The property detail pages can embed an interactive map via Google Maps (provider: Google Ireland Limited, "Google"). This map is not loaded automatically. Initially you only see a placeholder with a consent notice; an embedded map — and therefore any contact with Google — is established only after you actively click the "Activate map" button, or when a valid consent is already stored for your signed-in account.

Only with that click do you consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) to:

  • the map being loaded from Google, which transmits your IP address to Google (a transfer to third countries, e.g. the USA, may occur),
  • a value being stored in your browser's local storage (localStorage, key zvgm.maps.consent.v1) so your consent remains available in this browser, and
  • a cache of resolved geo-coordinates being stored in local storage (key prefix zvgm.geo.) so that repeat visits avoid another lookup.

For signed-in users, we additionally store the consent with version and timestamp in the account settings so the decision applies across devices and remains revocable and demonstrable. You can withdraw consent at any time directly on the map via "Disable Google Maps" or in the account settings. Users who are not signed in can withdraw it directly on the map or delete local storage. Before you activate it, no connection to Google and no write access to localStorage takes place. For details on Google's data processing see our Privacy Policy and Google's notices.

Managing cookies

You can restrict or block the storage of cookies in your browser settings and delete cookies that have already been set. Please note that fully disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent sign-in and certain platform functions from working.
